2025 Autumn Budget - what to expect

26 Nov 2025

Chancellor Rachel Reeves will present the 2025 Autumn Budget today. We will keep you up to date on the key Autumn Budget announcements and supply a summary, which will appear on our website.

Reports suggest that the Chancellor is considering cutting the annual Cash ISA limit from £20,000 to £12,000 in the hope that the public chooses to invest their savings in the UK stock market. An estimated £360 billion is currently tied up in Cash ISAs.

Ms Reeves also is reportedly contemplating changing Council Tax in order to help plug a significant black hole in the public finances. Speculation is rife that 2.4 million of the most expensive homes in the UK will be revalued under a new 'mansion tax'. Homes in Council Tax bands F, G and H could be revalued as part of the plan.

According to press reports, the Chancellor was forced to abandon a plan to raise Income Tax in the Budget after a backlash within the Labour Party over a measure that would have broken one of the government's manifesto pledges. However, Ms Reeves may now look at Income Tax thresholds instead as she considers ways in which to raise tens of billions in revenue.

Other reports suggest the Chancellor is considering implementing a new tax on electric vehicles to account for a fall in Fuel Duty caused by drivers switching from petrol and diesel to electric vehicles.
